Snowmen Thank You

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday! Mine was a fabulous time with my family, but it went by sooo quickly! Sound familiar? : ) I definately have some "thank you" cards to get together, I want to share one with you today that uses the Sugar Nellie stamp Christmas Garland.

This one is going to the doctors that I work with so I kept it pretty simple: just some punches, a button with a bow, and a few pearls and I'm done (although looking at the picture I'm thinking Mrs. Snowman could use some glitter on her hat and the boys can just deal with it... what are your thoughts?)

I colored the image with my Copic markers (I might even be getting some more with my Christmas money, yippee!) The sketch started as Skipping Stone Designs #107. Thank you for stopping by, again I hope your holiday was great! Here's to a fabulous 2012!

Merry Christmas!

Hello and Merry Christmas! Today I just have a quick post to share one of the *few* Christmas cards I actually made this year... yes it has truly been 24 days since I last posted! Has anyone else totally lost the month of December??

This is the card I made my Grandma, it is sooo pretty and shiny! There is no patterned paper on this card. It's been awhile since I've made one without any! I made the background using a CTMH swirl stamp and some pearl embossing powder. I then sponged around the embossing to help it pop. I also used the embossing powder on all the edges and on the flower from Recollections... I am seriously loving the flower! I used my Prismacolor pencils to add some shading to my main image (CTMH, scripture set CTMH also) Just some ribbon and pearls to finish off the card.

I hope you all have a wonderful day with friends and family, and may we always remember the reason for the season!

Happy Birthday baby Jesus!

This card is my submission for Christmas Card Challenges: Non-traditional colors, and for Stampin' Sister's in Christ #120: a Christmas card that reflects the TRUE reason!

Embossed Wise Men

Hello again! Can you believe it is already December 1st? I tell ya, November FLEW by! A panic has started in my craft room... my teensy weensy stack of **4** Christmas cards isn't going to get me very far! I'd better get cracking on that before they turn into Valentine cards! Luckily for me there's a new ABC Challenge today, and it's perfect for holiday cards... E for Embossing! The challenge is being sponsored by The Ribbon Girl... isn't their ribbons just gorgeous! And all the charms... love!

For my card I started with Card Patterns #143, although I will admit I did a lot of altering to the sketch! I used one of my all time favorite Christmas sets, Christmas Blessings from Taylored Expressions. I embossed the image and sentiment with gold embossing powder from Stampin Up. Seriously this stuff is so old I'm surprised it still melts! I sponged the edges of the cardstock to make the embossing pop even more.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a chance to play with us in the next 2 weeks and maybe even win some great ribbon!

Guardian Angel

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! I truly could not have asked for a better one! So much fun with family!! Unfortunately, it had to end sometime. Today I discovered someone decided to share their cold with me... ahem, mother : ) My head is in a vise so this post is going to be short and sweet so I can head to bed : )
I made this card earlier this fall for my mother in law, after her mom passed away. I kept forgetting I still needed to post it until now. I used the Guardian Angel image from Sugar Nellie and a scripture set from ODBD. The patterned paper is from CTMH- I love the way her dress looks paper pieced with that pretty paper! I tried to color her with Prismacolor pencils instead of my Copics... I definately have a long way to go until I can make it look as good as some of you ladies out in blogland!
Thanks for looking, I hope you all are able to keep away from the germs, lol!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone! I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving with friends and family! I just love everyone gathering together. I know I had mentioned the other day that I would show this card on Tuesday, but we had a tragic event happen within our church community and my focus has been elsewhere. I do ask for your thoughts and prayers for a family struggling after their young son took his life. It has definately made me take a step back and look at my family and our priorities. Take the time to give your kids a hug tonight and tell them you love them!

So back to the card, this one went to my Grandma. The image is an old one from Stampin Up. I love the sweetness of all the scarecrow provides! I colored it with Copics. Again, I kept this card simple just added some Liquid pearls in the corners, a Prima flower with a CTMH button, and some twine and ribbon. The sentiment is also CTMH.

This card is my submission for The Pink Elephant #126: Giving Thanks and The Shabby Tea Room #89: colors of nature. Isn't that inspiration photo beautiful?! Thanks for looking. Enjoy Black Friday shopping for those of you that venture out, I still haven't made my decision.... : )

Autumn Day

Hello! Monday totally drug by today... I'm so thankful it's only a 3 day work week! Speaking of thankful, I have a couple of cards I'm giving family members for Thanksgiving to show the next couple days. Patrick picked out this card to go to his Aunt, she is hosting Thanksgiving for his giant family. So since she won't let us bring anything (other than "your smiling faces"), I'm bringing her a card for all the work she will put into the meal. I might also sneak in something small : )

I used Deconstucted Sketch #28 for the layout... seriously LOVE this one. I will definately use it again, and next time I will include the big, loopy bow. I just felt the simple twine would go best with the scarecrow and simple design I chose for this card. I used a super cute Bugaboo digital stamp for this week's Catch the Bug Thanksgiving challenge. The DP, brads, button, and sentiment are all CTMH. I finished it off with some yellow liquid pearls. I'm loving this stuff, it's on my card for tomorrow too! I'll see you then, thanks for looking!

Dazzled Christmas!

It's a busy Tuesday on my blog today! If you're looking for my Sugar Nellie post, it's below! But it's also the 15th of the month, which means it's time for another ABC Challenge! Today's challenge is D for Dazzle! It is being sponsored by the sooo cute Bugaboo stamps, be sure to play along for a chance to win some great digis.

When I first saw this challenge, my initial thought was of that guy on the latest Project Runway who bedazzled everything! But since I'm so behind on my Christmas cards, I decided to bedazzle Christmas instead! Unfortunately, this time of year I don't see the sun, and my photos show it! The dazzle of my card is so lost! The MME background paper is glittered and so subtly sparkly if that's possible! I used a Spellbinder's embossing plate and sponged white ink around it to make the snowflakes pop a little. Then I took my clear Spica glitter pen and glittered the snowflakes. To go with the CTMH Christmas sentiment stamp, I cut the Merry with my Cricut and added just a touch of Stickles. The same sweet friend who makes my crochet embellies for my cards, also made this snowflake. My layout is Card Patterns #141. Super simple, but sweet!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a chance to play along with us and show your Dazzled creation! Good luck in winning that fabulous prize : )

Contemplation

Hello everybody, happy Tuesday! I had so much fun hopping this weekend with Sugar Nellie! There were so many beautiful creations.

As you can see, I still can't put Cassie down! For this card I used Contemplation, which really seemed to be a favorite of the hop. I color my images with Copic markers, and I always feel I have the most trouble coloring hair. I think that is a reason why I am so in love with these images, the hair is so flowing, there is room to really blend the colors until I'm happy : ) So see honey, I need these stamps, they're helping me better utilize the markers I've already purchased.... lol! I'm not sure Patrick knew what he was getting into when he encouraged me to find a hobby, lol!

I used November's SFYTT, just pretend sweet Cassie is a square! The sentiment says "Hey there" and is from GKD. The papers are a mix of Crate Paper and My Mind's Eye. The dotted paper is glittered, it's really pretty! I used my new Magnolia zig zag die on the bottom panel's cardstock. Some twine, flowers, and brads and I'm done!

Thank you again to everyone who hopped with us this weekend, and for all of your comments, they totally made my day and I really appreciated them!

Knitted with Love

Hello! I finally have my first Christmas card for the year to share! Took me long enough.... December will be here wayyyy too soon for me this year! It's the first of the month so it's time for another ABC Challenge: C for Crochet Flowers! It's also my turn to share on the Sugar Nellie blog, so I decided to combine my posts and use this super cute fairy, Knitted With Love. It's no secret that I'm not gifted with my sewing machine.... before I broke it I could only manage to sew on my cards and not on actual fabric! I have a sweet friend I used to work with though, who makes the most gorgeous knitted creations, and has been so kind to share some with me! So she was my inspiration for this card! I used Unscripted Sketches #130 for my layout. I dyed the flower with Glimmer Mist, although it doesn't sparkle quite like I thought it would. I still think it matches beautifully! I also added a lot of stickles to her wings and mixed stickles with flower soft for the trim of her hat. Thanks for looking, I hope you can join us over at ABC Challenge for a chance to win a great prize!

It's a Boy!

No, no, not for me, lol! But one of my co-workers welcomed a sweet baby boy recently so we took a collection to get her a gift card, and I made this card to go with it. I just love newborns (especially when you can hand them back to their mommies when they're fussing... I don't have the baby itch again yet) I colored this sweet Tiddly Inks image with my Copics. My neck still isn't feeling quite back to normal so I'm finding myself trying to color really fast, and the result isn't as much shading as I like... and I was finally getting the hang of it!! : ) I love this paper pack from CTMH, Starstruck, it really is one of my all time favs, but I'm trying really hard to use up my older papers so I'm glad to see the pack getting thinner. I also used Jen's SFYTT, except I made one of the rectangles a circle (if she can do it so can I!) I'm also entering this card into Simon Says Stamp's Anything Goes challenge. Thanks for looking, it's my turn to post for Sugar Nellie again on Tuesday, hope you check it out!

A little birdie told me...

Hello! It's my turn to post on the Sugar Nellie blog again. I had planned on having a card using one of the cute Christmas images from Sugar Nellie I recently bought over at Funky Kits. Unfortunately, the kids and I were in a car accident last week and that kinda put a wrench in my plans. We weren't seriously injured, thankfully, but my neck was hurting so bad this weekend that leaning over my desk to color wasn't happening! Luckily I had this cutie all ready to save the day!
I am sooo loving the colors of this October Afternoon paper pack, it was fun to use colors outside of my norm to color her in. I love her pretty dress and tights, I'll have to find Bailey a matching outfit : )

Thanks for looking! I hope you have a good week, this week has to be better than last for me!!

B is for Boo!

Hello! The ABC Challenge is back and going strong! I hope you were able to play along with the past challenge, there were so many awesome entries. Today there is a new challenge... "B for Boo!" We want to see your spooky Halloween projects, check out the challenge blog for all the details.

My card isn't exactly spooky... this little guy is much too cute : ) I tried to channel Jack Sparrow with the black lace.... Oh how I love Captain Jack Sparrow! I used the Sweet Stop Sketch #129, and I'll be honest the circle really freaked me out at first until I found some old paper that had a moon image with the bird and old tree and problem solved! Thanks for looking, I hope you can play along!

Everyone did such a beautiful job yesterday, we have big shoes to fill today! All of the cute stamps are now available at Funky Kits. Have you made your order so you can work your magic too?

I don't want to keep you too long : ) My card features the sooo cute Pippi LongSocks. And again, another sweet frog! I colored her with Copics and I really used a lot of grays to make deeper shadows and give her a distressed look almost, and I have to say I really like it! All of the papers, the turquoise ribbon, and the buttons and gems are from this month's Key Ingredients kit. The ric rac is CTMH and the sentiment is Amuse. I cut the stars with my cricut and colored her wings with my Spica glitter pen, they are so sparkly!

Hello! I am so excited I get to share a sneak peek of Sugar Nellie's October release! When I received my assigned images I thought, "How did I get so lucky to get the cutest ones?" But now that I've seen them all, let me tell you.... They are all cute! I can't wait to see what the other designers have made with them, I am sure to go shopping for the rest! They will all be revealed at a 2-day blog hop this Sat and Sun, be sure to check it out! All of the stamps will be for sale at Funky Kits on Oct 8!

My 1st ABC Challenge!

Hello everyone! I am so excited to announce that I was chosen to join the new ABC Challenge DT! I was so happy when I received the email... I had practically given up on ever being asked to be on a DT after getting plenty of "I'm sorry, but...." emails. Maybe my work wasn't as good as my mom said it was : ) So to have 2 different teams ask me to join in the same week was surreal! The moral to my story is... Don't Give Up!

To get it started this week the ABC Challenge is A for Anything Goes! Play along with us for a chance to win a certificate to In2Stamps or Lili of the Valley! For my card I colored sweet Tilda with my Copics. As always, I used a sketch for my card, and I'm sorry, but I forgot to write it down and I've searched my usual go-to sketch sites. I know I used an older one and just can't find it, I love it though!

This card is also my submission for The Paper Shelter's challenge "For the Girls" and Simon Says Stamp's Anything goes challenge (they are hoping for 1,000 entries!)

My Time in the Spotlight : )

Happy Sunday already! The weekends are never long enough....but enough complaining. Since I am a newbie on the Sugar Nellie design team they are telling a bit about me for Sugar Addicts Showcase Sunday! I am still SO excited I was asked to join this amazingly talented group of ladies... someday I will color like you all : ) This card will be going to my sister. She only lives in Chicago, but you'd think it was the other side of the world the way I miss her if we haven't seen each other in a while! I thought Little Miss Attitude would be perfect so I colored her with my Copics. Then paper pieced her dress after I totally botched it up..... I added sparkle with my Spica glitter pen..love that thing!! Thanks for looking!

TE Birthday Tree

Hello! So I thought I had signed up for Taylored Expression's Blast from the Past (I love that hop after all!) for Sept, but... oops, guess I forgot! I'm telling you, my head so is not on straight lately. Bailey's been sick, and Momma doesn't function too well on little sleep! Since I had a card made, I figured I'd share it anyways! After cutting out the tree by hand, the die is definately going to be on my next order, lol! I used Taylored Expressions sketch #146. Thanks for looking!

Hello! Tuesday is my day to post for the Sugar Nellie DT and I have my first card to share today...yay!!I used the sweet Bear Hug stamp for today's card, you can find her here at Funky Kits. I used Card Patterns #133, although I did alter it a teensybit : ) I learned that the cheapo lace from Walmart doesn't dye well... but I attempted something new and it looks cute anyways! Sweet Summer

HELLO!! I am bursting at the seams... I was chosen to be on the design team for Sugar Nellie stamps! I was so excited when I received my email from Gayle- I jumped up so hard I accidently kicked my son! Poor guy was just trying to clean up his art space : ) I wanted to celebrate by playing with the first rubber stamp I EVER bought online- this cutie from Sugar Nellie! My mom is in the hospital today for a procedure on her heart (everything is fine!) and I'm going to bring this to her with some flowers since she was bummed when she found out she'd have to stay overnight! I used Card Patterns sketch #132 and the card came together very quickly. Sometimes you gotta love clean and simple! Thanks for looking!

Wishing you...

Hello! I have had such a relaxing weekend, I hope you've enjoyed yours too! Yesterday while we were watching the Iowa-Iowa State game (Hawks lost) I colored this little cutie for a birthday card for my mom to give to one of her best friends. I tried to take my pics outside, and it was definately too bright, so sorry about that. Anyone looking to get rid of a light tent, haha! When I first saw the August Key Ingredients kit and saw there were stickers in it I thought "well great more stickers to sit in my binder." I'm not the best at actually using them.... So I have really tried to make myself actually use these ones. It says "Wishing you... good times, happiness, friendship" One card, 4 stickers down : )

Sweet Angel Sarah

Hello! I am so loving the long weekend, I have made 4 cards! I made this one today for our dear friends from church. They lost their little Sarah to SIDS before we knew them. Thursday would have been her 5th birthday and I wanted to let them know Patrick and I were thinking about them. Even though we had lost Gabe and they had lost Sarah before we knew each other, we really have bonded over the memory of our children. I know the birthdays are so hard and you start to wonder if anyone other than you even remembers your baby so I hope this card brings them comfort.

Image: Magnolia, Scripture: ODBD, DP: CTMH, Stickles (on her wings, you can't really see it in the pics) CTMH button, misc pearls, gem swirls, ribbon and flower

This card is my submission for Just Magnolia's Special Monthly challenge: anything goes with option of circles and ODBD #75: Dots or Stripes. I also used September's SFYTT and did the panels the right size this time!

Oh Happy Day!

Hello! This is going to be a quick post because I'm headed out to meet my mom and grandma to see The Help. I've heard some great things about it so I'm excited! But I just HAD to post the card I made last night because I JUST LOVE IT! haha I have no idea what it is about the card, it just really makes me smile : ) I was on the ATS Wednesday challenge blog and saw the inspiration picture: I loved the pretty pink with the beautiful teal of the shutters. I decided to use the September SFYTT. My husband was using the computer last night so I was trying to go off of memory, and obviously something didn't transfer because as I was uploading the picture I realized I have the panels mixed up... sorry! Thanks for looking anyways! And have a great holiday tomorrow, I'm so excited to have it off. It still makes me giddy after all the years working holidays in the hospital.... perks of a clinic job!

Anniversary Bear

Hello! I finally have my August SFYTT card to share! This was made for my mom to give my dad for their anniversary, but I wasn't able to photograph it before she picked it up. She was finally able to drop it back off at my house yesterday. Then I couldn't get my photo editing program to work, so this has been quite a challenge getting this ready to share! But I did really enjoy making it, this little bear from Stamp Fairy just kept making me smile while I was coloring him. This is also my submission for Crazy 4 Challenges #102: to make a male themed card and Stampin Sisters in Christ's recipe challenge. Thanks for looking!

You're the Best

Hello! Did everyone else's week drag by? Oh well it's finally Saturday and I had some stamping time! I made this card for my grandma's birthday on Monday. I used Cute Card Thursday's sketch for this week. It came together really fast and I love it, but holy cow, I stepped out of my comfort zone! I tried really hard to mix colors I wouldn't normally and I really liked it, who would have known pink, yellow and green look so nice together? I also used some embellies I've been hoarding. OK maybe not hoarding as much as scared to use... the flowers and pearl sprigs in the corner. I love it when I see them used on other blogs and think I did a pretty nice job without looking like I over did it! Over at Just Magnolia the challenge was a Bingo card- I used gems, flowers, and ribbons. Flowers were also the challenge at Magnolia Stamp Lovers, lucky me! And lastly since this is a birthday card it is also my submission for A Spoon Full of Sugar. Thanks for looking!

Hello! My little guy turns **seven** tomorrow! It's been a fast 7 years!

I used the July Key Ingredients kit from Taylored Expressions again to make his birthday card. I am seriously getting a lot of use from this kit : ) I used a cutie from Bugaboo and colored him with Copics. I used Sketchy Thursday #141. This card is also my submission for Stamp Something's August Digi Day. Thanks for looking!

July SFYTT

Hello! I finally have my July SFYTT submission done. I do not know why I had so much trouble with the sketch, but let me tell you! This is my 3rd attempt, and beings it's the end of the month, this is as good as it got : )

I used the paper from my July Key Ingredients Kit again for this card. I am really happy I signed up, it's making me use colors together that I normally wouldn't. Maybe that's why this card was so hard, I'm trying something new?? Oh well this card will go to someone at church, and hopefully it will brighten their day!

Have a great weekend, we spent today at the town festival going on, it's been a blast so far! Caleb won the pedal pull and advanced to state, woo hoo! He's carried his trophy around all afternoon!

BFTP- Summer Love

Hello! I am so excited to be a part of Taylored Expressions July Blast from the Past. This month's theme is Sending you Sunshine!! We definately have sunshine here in Iowa. It is so hot and humid that when I went outside to take pictures, my camera lens fogged over and I had to sit outside to let it adjust for awhile! My card took a turn towards lovey dovey, but summer is in the sentiment so it counts, right? : ) This is for my dad to give my mom on their anniversary, I know she'll love it. I received my first Key Ingredients Kit in the mail, and OH MY, I am so glad I subscribed! As soon as I got the package I was in my craft hole and this was the result! All the supplies are from the July Kit except the CTMH brads and the GKD button. The stamp set is Summer Afternoon. I used my Spica Glitter pen on the butterflies and dragonfly- it is so pretty!

Thanks for taking a look at my card, I hope you enjoy the rest of the hop!
